my mother,
is like no other
my mother taught me to pray,
each and every day
my mother took me to church,
on the edge of the pew I would perch
my mother cares
and dispels all of my fears
my mother taught me to talk, walk,
even plant a beanstalk
my mother raised me up
so that I can be on top
my mother consoled my heart,
whenever we had to be apart
my mother gave me food to eat,
also treats that are not so sweet
my mother tells jokes
like none of the other folks
my mother taught me to sing,
songs about everything
my mother took me to school,
on the bus, as a rule
my mother taught me to read,
my brain, with words to feed
my mother washed my clothes,
even the ones with a few meaningless holes
my mother welcomed people home all the time, even the sick, homeless and the blind
my mother would part a fight,
with me, my sisters and brothers alright!
my mother would put me to bed,
after I was properly well-fed
my mother would look at me and say 'Manners maketh man'
but that was never in GOD'S PLAN
My mother would protect me like a dove,
that's how strong is OUR LOVE
